Schools have long aimed to prepare students for life and citizenship.
Considering that young people will have to grow up in a world to promote democratic principles, social justice and the responsibility required of citizens is now, more than ever, one of the key purposes of the school.
In order for the student council election to truly educate students in the workings of democracy, it is important to take the time to settle certain questions before the elections are called. First of all, the roles and responsibilities of the student council must be defined. It must also be decided what positions the council will consist of and how it will be elected.
